Judith M. Ford spent thirty seven years as a psychotherapist before a mysterious illness nearly took her life, and it would be years before that illness finally had a name. Fever of Unknown Origin is her account of that summer, the recovery that followed, and the parallel journeys she later walked beside her own parents at the end of their lives.
Her short fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in more than thirty literary magazines, including Connecticut Review, Southern. Humanities Review, and Evening Street Review, and her work has earned three Pushcart Prize nominations across nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. She holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and won the Willow Review Prose Award in 2005. She has taught creative writing to sixth graders, to adults through the University of Wisconsin Extension, and to teenagers in a runaway shelter.
She now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her husband and two dogs, where she hikes the foothills, studies piano, and is training her singing voice.
