Judith W. Spain is a Professor Emeritus, an attorney licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky, and a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. Judy serves on the Board, Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
Judy served as General Counsel and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Eastern Kentucky University, a large public regional institution, and in the same roles at Manhattanville College, a small private institution. At both institutions, she developed and implemented the first compliance program.
She serves as the Compliance Collaborative Program Consultant for the Georgia Independent College Association. In that role, she leads multiple institutions on the path to developing compliance programs as well as providing training and consulting services. She has active consulting practice, Higher Education Compliance Consulting. The firm specializes in providing training, policy review, and consulting in all higher education compliance matters.
Judy is the author of the only book focused solely on educating institutional boards - Higher Education Compliance: What Governing Boards Need to Know. She is the author of Compliance Risk Assessment – An Introduction and Compliance Risk Assessment – 2nd Edition, both published by Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
Judy contributes to the professional compliance community by presenting national webinars, conducting seminars, and publishing in numerous academic and professional journals in the ethics and compliance field.
