Kaitlan C. Farrior is an independent author from North Carolina whose work explores identity, resilience, and the intricate threads of human connection. Influenced by the cultural power of the Harlem Renaissance and the transformative activism of the Black Panther Party, her writing carries echoes of the storytellers who shaped her—August Wilson, Ernest J. Gaines, Richard Wright, Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Henry Dumas, and Tarell Alvin McCraney. Her debut poetry collection, Poems By The Overthinker (2019), introduced her as a writer unafraid to delve into love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. She has since expanded her catalog with Even Flowers Don’t Like Being Stepped On, In The Midnight Hour, The Transfer, and Like I Don’t Exist—the latter adapted into a live-action stage play available through her website. Farrior’s work, centering voices often pushed to the margins, has reached readers across the United States and internationally, including Brazil, the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, and India. Her books can also be found in libraries throughout Durham, Onslow, and Wake County, NC. Beyond the page, Farrior leads writing workshops in libraries and community spaces across North Carolina, guiding participants through topics such as character development, impostor syndrome, and creative wellness. She has also brought her work to life through live readings and events at libraries and Barnes & Noble. Through her storytelling, community engagement, and deep connection to the cultural legacies that inspire her, Kaitlan C. Farrior continues to offer work that is thoughtful, compelling, and unapologetically authentic. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
