Kaitlyn Leyva (Kait) was born December 25th 1992 in Spokane, WA, child number three to Daniel and Kris Stoop. Growing up she always had a fiction novel in her hand. Whether it was horse competitions, soccer games, baking competitions or just spending time with her family, she always had a book with her. As a teenager, she was homeschooled so there was more time for her horses. Her senior year in high school, Kait started writing her first book. It started when she ran out of books to read in the house and had already spent her monthly book allowance. After two years, her very first book was complete. The Girl Champion was roughly published a few years later, but she wanted to write something better. Writing became her passion. Her mother and three sisters are her closest friends. As a child, she looked up to her father; he worked hard for his family, but more importantly he loved his job. He always encouraged her to aim high, and never quit no matter what obstacles were found in her path. She currently works as a veterinary assistant with her awesome mother-in-law and a fun group of co-workers who make it easy to go to work every day. Her favorite hobbies currently include exploring mountains on her horse, hunting, coaching youth soccer, camping, cooking, and writing. Although she one day hopes to start a family, for now she and her husband are enjoying their first home and raising their hunting dog. Her dreams include continuing to write and one day getting back into three-day eventing with her appaloosa filly. She is most grateful to her family for always being there to support her dreams and encourage her forward no matter what crazy idea she comes up with next.
