Carlson loves to write about the perpetual chase. Outrunning and outwitting the demons, the ones closing the gap and ready to strike. She loves to hide her characters in gnarly trees and plunk them into hostile mazes—both urban and remote. She remains obsessed with the transformative journey of survivors—lost in the woods or lost to addictions.
