My name is Katrina Villegas. I am a former chemist, engineer, and high school teacher. I never envisioned becoming a stay-at-home mom, but as soon as that first positive pregnancy test came along, my husband and I both knew we wanted to take that path for our family. So, here we are. I am a stay-at-home mom applying all of my engineering, teaching, creativity, and life experiences to making family life run as smoothly as possible. My career as a stay-at-home mom is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in teaching from Frostburg State University. My husband and I have three children. Our oldest daughter was conceived after 1.5 years of trying and fertility help. Our second daughter was conceived naturally, and we were so thankful not to need fertility treatments that time around. Unfortunately, she had trisomy 13, a fatal condition, and we had to say hello and goodbye in one breath. Our family became complete when we had our son—truly the rainbow after the storm. Writing about the parenting techniques and strategies I’ve used became a passion of mine as soon as our first daughter was born. I have also become deeply passionate about raising awareness for child loss and trisomy 13, and I share the story of our daughter whenever I can. In addition to writing, I am also the creator behind Mama Nature Art Designs, a colorful collection of artist-designed notebooks, journals, and stationery inspired by painterly florals, playful patterns, retro color palettes, and whimsical modern aesthetics. My creative work blends artistic expression, warmth, and imagination to bring personality and joy to everyday life. At the end of the day, the reality is that you have to parent in a way that is best for you, your family, and your child. What works wonderfully for one family may not work for another. There are, however, certain ideas and approaches that I believe can help almost everyone. My parenting books focus on the strategies, routines, and best practices that can truly make a difference during the baby, toddler, and preschool years. As an engineer, we always said, “Don’t reinvent the wheel,” and “Share best practices.” That philosophy became the foundation of my writing—sharing the things that helped our family so that others might not have to reinvent everything themselves. I hope you enjoy my books, journals, and creative designs. Best of luck to you in this amazing parenting adventure and creative journey!
