I graduated from Western New Mexico University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics in 1990. Immediately after that I started a career at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) as a Mathematical Statistician. While working, I completed a Master of Science degree in Statistical Computing at American University in Washington, DC.
I served in multiple leadership roles at the BLS, including:
- Supervisor of a branch of Mathematical Statisticians
- Manager of a division of Information Technologists
- Manager of a division of Economists
- Senior Executive in charge of major statistical programs
- Senior Executive in charge of survey methods research for BLS
While working at BLS I wrote a number of statistical papers and articles. They can be found at two sites at BLS. The articles can be found by searching for the author's name in the BLS publication site for the Monthly Labor Review. The survey research papers can be found by searching for the author's name at the website for research papers maintained by the BLS Office of Survey Methods Research.
I retired from BLS after thirty-four years. I started writing books following my retirement in 2024.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two brothers. My wife lives with me in Northern Virginia. My brothers live in other states; one lives in Alabama and the other in New Mexico near our father.
