The Day Of series, is Kevin Reid's first series, but was not born from any desire on his behalf to be an author.
Kevin suffered a life-threatening injury in 2011, and in order to fill time while recovering, he began loosely writing about topics that would interest HIM to read about. As an avid reader, he always felt like there was something missing from the books he had read.
In 2019, when the COVID19 pandemic hit, he found some of his old writing files, on an old PC, from when he was injured. It was then, that he decided that the idea needed to be revisited. Again, just to fill time while the country was in lockdown. At a certain point, Kevin knew this series was too good to let die on his computer.

The series reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with all 6 of the books averaging a 5-star rating over ALL platforms. (As of this article's publication.)
His style of writing makes readers feel like they are part of the group, probably because the whole series is written in first person. Which is an astronomically difficult thing to do. These are some of the traits of Kevin's writing style that are scrutinized for not being "classical writing"...... All while being revered for NOT being "classical writing".......You can be the judge of that.
But the talent of this author is off the charts, that is abundantly clear.
As for The Day Of book series.... A slower start up in the first book brings all of the core characters to life. I say slower because in comparison to the rest of the series, it feels slow. But it is 100% necessary for the structure of the series. After that, the series will twist and turn you through the maze of the situation our group is living. It isn't always pretty for them. In fact, it rarely is. Like normal people, stuck in a world environment that no one has ever navigated, the group makes many mistakes. In particular Camron Reese, who is writing this story for you. He knows you are reading it. Cam often takes "breaks" from the story to discuss a decision he made, or certain moments where questionable situations are happening. Just so you know what is going on in his head at that moment. Which.... he knows you may not agree with him. He is no saint. He is not trying to be a role model either. He's just trying to keep his people and himself alive.
Through six books, all of the characters go thorough massive character arcs. For some its more gradual, others have to change on a dime. Some.... never get the chance to change.
We highly recommend giving this author and series a chance.... you may just find what you have been looking for in an author and a series.
