L.J. Sysko's debut full-length poetry collection THE DAUGHTER OF MAN was selected for the Miller Williams Poetry Series by Patricia Smith. Reviewers called it a “whip-smart collection, a playful celebration of feminine power” (Publishers Weekly), “g@dd@m funny, a clinic in irony,” (Ross Gay), and Sysko was dubbed "a Valley Girl Beowulf" (Colorado Review). Sysko’s work has also been anthologized in BEST NEW POETS and LET ME SAY THIS; published in BATTLEDORE, a chapbook about postpartum depression and early motherhood; and featured in esteemed journals such as Ploughshares and The Georgia Review. Sysko was a high school English for fourteen years, but she is now a full-time writer; she lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her family.
