Laura Meer Barkley is the author of This Childhood of Mine: A Memoir of My Last Summer with My Mentally Ill Mother and Alcoholic Father.
She’s also an elementary school teacher. After founding her own dance school in Russia, she traveled the world with her students for competitions, fell even more in love with the English language, became an English teacher, and immigrated to the United States. She later earned a master's degree in Elementary Education from Walden University.
In her free time she enjoys walking through botanical gardens while listening to audiobooks. She’s blessed with her wonderful daughter Amina, husband Timothy, and two feisty Chihuahuas Vincent and Dominic.
