Lawrence W. Gold, M.D. is a retired physician, Vietnam War veteran, and the author of
nineteen novels including the fifteen-book Brier Hospital Series. He served as a Battalion
Surgeon with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam before returning home to complete his
training in internal medicine and nephrology. Over 3 years as a hospital-based Chief of
Medicine, he accumulated the kind of medical knowledge, human insight, and storytelling
material that no writing course can teach. His Brier Hospital novels — including No Cure
For Murder and the beloved Jacob and Lola Weizman series — are celebrated for their
authentic medical detail, psychological depth, and characters who prove that the most
