Leila McCardle is a Modern Languages Teacher, writer, and illustrator based in East Lothian, Scotland.
Passionate about storytelling, travel, and helping children discover the joy of languages, she founded Red Beret Publishing to bring playful, bilingual books to life.
Her debut picture story book, Isabelle Goes to Paris and Drops Her Bunny Bonbon, combines language with rhyme in English alongside gentle French immersion, encouraging young readers to explore and learn a language through fun and adventure.
Leila draws on her experience as both a mum and Modern Languages Teacher to create stories that inspire curiosity, connection, and confidence. When she’s not teaching or writing, you’ll find her dancing, cycling, watching her favourite football team or dreaming up her next creative project over a strong coffee.
