Lermit Díaz-Salazar was born in Venezuela and lives in Michigan. He signs his literary work as L. Ramón Díaz.
Much of his professional life was spent in the metalworking industry, selling precision cutting tools. Alongside that work, he serves as a Spanish, Italian, and English interpreter in courts, hospitals, and public institutions—a trade that consists of carrying what someone says into a language where they will finally be heard. His literature comes from there.
He is the author of Legal Interpretation in the U.S. Courts, a practical guide to judicial interpreting, and of El Eco de Pía / Echoes of Pia, a novel published in Spanish and English and also available as an audiobook.
His most recent work is Inmigrantes (Universo de Letras / Grupo Planeta), a novel born of years spent listening to stories no one had ever written down.
Every Sunday he publishes Tertulia Dominical, a short-essay column on memory, identity, and emotional life. He is currently writing Los años que no tuve, which is based on real testimony.
He speaks Spanish, Italian, and English at a native level, with working knowledge of German and Portuguese.
