Lindsay Randell writes practical guides for people managing hard things without a manual, and without a clinical background to fall back on.
Her first book, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, came out of one question: what do you actually do in the moment, when the technique you read about last week is nowhere in your head?
The Two-Person Aphasia Workbook for Adults asks the same question of stroke recovery at home. It was built from what caregivers themselves reported: what stalled their sessions, what made the person they love shut down, and what nobody had thought to tell them beforehand. The whole idea is in the title. After a stroke, two people are recovering, and only one of them is usually handed a plan.
She is not a speech-language pathologist, and her books say so on the page. They are written for the person doing the work at the kitchen table, not for the clinic.
