Like many children’s book authors, Maria Bucci loved picture books as a child. Her appreciation for them was rekindled as an adult when reading with her son and she began taking courses on writing for children. The result is her picture book debut, Hound on a Scrounge about a playful and food-happy dog named Buddy who shares the story of the origins of “afternoon tea” in England.
Maria lives in England near Woburn Abbey, the stunning stately home to the Duke and Duchess of Bedford. When she discovered the location’s link to the origins of afternoon tea, she had a burning passion to write it as a children’s book…starring her very own Buddy, her lovable pet dog.
According to Maria, humour is the key ingredient to a great book, a wonderful medicine for the soul. She hopes that her young readers come away from her stories with an experience of laughter, joy, and learning that stays with them long after the book is closed.
When she isn’t writing children’s stories, Maria is a contemporary singing tutor who enjoys taking Buddy out for long walks, baking, and painting. She lives in Woburn Sands, England, with her husband, son, and of course, Buddy.
