Mark Edward Jones is an award-winning, multi-genre Oklahoma author of mystery, noir, thriller, science fiction, and paranormal fiction. A retired higher education finance professional, Mark spent thirty-five years in public budgeting and university administration before turning his attention to storytelling.
His Frank “Twitchy” O'Brien noir series follows a hardboiled private detective navigating crime, corruption, and questionable characters in 1930s Alexandria, Virginia. The first installment, *Wrong Day to Quit*, won first place in the Detective/Hardboiled category of the 2026 Fall BookFest Awards.
Mark is also the author of the Detective Henry Ike Pierce mystery series, beginning with *Peculiar Activities*, and the Eddie Stone thriller series, featuring *No Pain Wasted* and *The Costa Dossier*. His writing has earned multiple awards, including first-place finishes in the Oklahoma Writers' Federation contests.
His shorter works range from dark paranormal tales to science fiction. *Dormer*, *A Dormer Christmas*, and *Transmission 13* have received BookFest honors, while his flash fiction has earned recognition from Southwest Writers and WriterCon. His work has also appeared in *Killer Nashville Magazine*.
A native of Duncan, Oklahoma, Mark holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife live in the Oklahoma City area. They have three grown children and a grandson. When not writing, Mark enjoys reading mysteries, suspense, and international intrigue.
