Mark Valenti was born in St. Louis, Missouri, where he became a member of the famed City Players Theatre Group. He studied at the Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles, and played roles in several television productions. Moving into film production, he became a Production Assistant for Steven Spielberg at Amblin Entertainment, and then served as Vice President of Development for director/writer John Hughes. Valenti was a script analyst for industry notables Oprah Winfrey, Ron Howard and Sydney Pollack, and was Creative Manager for Disney Interactive. For nearly ten years, he was Head Writer and lyricist for the global hit series LazyTown. He was also Story Editor for Nickelodeon’s bloc of animated shows including Rugrats, Catdog, Hey Arnold, and The Wild Thornberrys. He has also written for Back to the Future, Olivia, Gaspard and Lisa, Totally Spies, and My Friends Tigger and Pooh. Valenti wrote the television movies Menno’s Mind, starring Billy Campbell, which debuted on Showtime, Like Father, Like Santa, starring Harry Hamlin, which aired on the ABC Family Channel and The Christmas Pageant, starring Melissa Gilbert, for the Hallmark Channel. He also wrote the high school fantasy comedy, The Devil and Danny Webster, for The Disney Channel. He scripted the annual holiday special, Mannheim Steamroller’s The Christmas Angel, for NBC.
