Dr. Martha L. Garmon received her Bachelor of Applied Music degree in Flute and Piano from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She received a Master of Church Music with Choral Concentration from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin and a Doctor of Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Orange Park, Florida. She holds the Director of Parish Music-Emeritus designation from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Martha served as Minister of Worship and Music for churches of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod until her retirement in 2018. Martha’s husband, Stephan, was diagnosed on July 1, 2016 with frontotemporal degeneration and on February 1, 2018 with ALS. During the four years after his initial diagnosis Martha was his primary caregiver, first while working full-time, then part-time. She retired in November 2018 and they moved to Paris, Texas to be near family. Stephan, died on April 21, 2020. Martha now fills her time with writing, painting, playing music, traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren.
