Mary Marquiss has been an Art Teacher, Artist and Author for over 30 years focused on large format florals and abstract design. With a degree in psychology from UCLA and the University of Oregon - the provocative element to her paintings is the personal story they carry.
Her new book: BEHIND THE PAINTING - AN ARTIST'S MEMOIR will be released May 7, 2026. This book holds ten original paintings with a personal story woven behind each one over a thirty year period. She navigated life's challenges with courage, humor and spirit as she faced divorce, family suicide, finding love late in life, a stroke and cancer. There is a circular language between her art and her life. BEHIND THE PAINTING encourages readers as they navigate their own challenges in this often wobbly world.
