Mary Sudman Donovan pioneered women’s history in the Episcopal Church. Her books include A Different Call: Women’s Ministries in the Episcopal Church, 1850-1920 and Women Priests in the Episcopal Church: The Experience of the First Decade. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Mills College in California and a Ph. D. in American History from Columbia University. She was a founding member of the Episcopal Women’s History Project and is a past president of the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church. Most recently, she has taught history at Hunter College, CUNY. With the Reverend William Franklin, she wrote Will the Dust Praise You? Spiritual Responses to 9/11, a book that details the Episcopal Church’s response to the destruction of New York’s World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
