Maryanne Melloan Woods is a novelist/playwright/screenwriter currently living in New Jersey. In her career as a tv writer/producer, Maryanne has written shows for networks including Showtime, NBC, ABC, Fox, the WB, Nickelodeon and ABC Family. Her plays have been staged by the HBO's New Writers' Project, The Mark Taper Forum, Playwrights' Horizons and many other theaters around the country. She's won several playwriting contests including the John Gassner Playwriting Contest, the Venice (CA) Playwrights' Festival and the Long Beach Playhouse New Works Festival. Her screenplay "Steve" won Best Comedy Feature in the Nashville Film Festival's Screenwriting Competition in 2016, and in 2020 her screenplay "Match Made in Heaven" has been making the rounds as one of three finalists in the Scriptation Screenwriting Showcase. Maryanne has taught screenwriting at UCLA, the American Film Institute and the Gotham Writer's Workshop, and been a panelist for tv writing seminars at NYU and the University of Wisconsin. Maryanne is a proud Librettist Member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop in New York.
