Michael Bantu-Khoe (pronounced BAN-too KHO-eh) is a Black British author born in Botswana. His roots run through two Southern African peoples: Bantu through his mother and Khoe (Khoisan) through his father. The sixth of twelve children, he learned early to carve out quiet and to speak up when it counts.
His debut memoir, Life in an Air-Conditioned Hell, is for anyone who’s ever felt passed over at home, at school, at work, or anywhere you’re expected to shrink. It blends mischief, memory and tenderness from a Botswana childhood and a life built in Britain. If you’ve ever been the “middle one” in any room, he wrote this with you in mind.
