Michael John Pole came to writing from an unexpected direction. After a career in commercial photography working with international brands, he began looking beyond the camera lens and towards the stories behind people, places and the experiences that shape our lives.
His writing explores life’s journey, the questions we encounter along the way, and the choices that can change our direction. In Sam and the Open Road, he reflects on the challenges of intentionality and the climb, the possibilities that emerge along the way, and the view that can open up when we reach the top.
His second book, The Landing Place, moves into historical fiction, taking readers to Israel in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War and the turbulent events surrounding it. The Landing Place is due for release on 9 October 2026.
Michael’s faith-based writing is less about religion and more about the difference between simply following tradition and discovering a personal relationship through faith.
For Michael, writing is another way of looking through the lens—only this time, the stories are found in words.
