Mike Welsh is a designer, storyteller, and practitioner of curiosity. He spent over two decades studying how humans think, behave, and make decisions, then applied that understanding to help organizations solve complex problems. Born fourth of six children in a one-bathroom house in Philadelphia, Mike learned early that attention was scarce and storytelling was survival. He overcame childhood agoraphobia not by eliminating fear but by learning to show up anyway—a practice that became central to his approach to work and life. His career has spanned startups and enterprise organizations, always focused on the intersection of human behavior and designed experiences. He’s led workshops for Fortune 500 companies, pitched to C-suites, and competed in Moth StorySLAMs. He’s comfortable in boardrooms and on stages, though “comfortable” might be an overstatement—he’s just learned to be uncomfortable productively. Mike is a marathon runner, audiobook addict (20+ books per year), and firm believer that the best question you can ask is “How can I help?” He lives by his father’s advice: “Show me your freinds and I’ll show you who you are.” He currently operates out of Philadelphia, working with teams that want to improve their understanding of problems, tell stories, and create conditions where everyone can do their best work.
