An advocate for the disability community, Michaela extended her reach from her local community to a worldwide audience when she began sharing her story on social media. Initially, she found herself frustrated by how invisible the disability community can be—even though many are most recognizable by their disability. What started as simply reserving a room at a local public library quickly evolved into writing her debut memoir, Unconditionally Confident.
When she realized she needed to tell the world about the book, everything changed. Almost overnight, she found herself connecting with an active community of over 40,000 followers across Instagram and Facebook.
Beyond her digital storytelling, Michaela continues to deeply contribute to her community. She serves as a board member for Movin' Out and GiGi’s Playhouse, as well as a Community Outreach Committee Member for Morgan’s Caring Connection.
