Hi! I'm Michaelia Morgan. If there is one word that sums up my journey, it's definitely "reinvention". Over the years, I've leapt headfirst into a wide range of fields and careers, partly out of a deep curiosity, but mostly because I love the challenge of learning something new.
The roots of that resilient, independent, and eager spirit go all the way back to the beginning. My debut memoir, That Yankee Girl: The Early Years (Volume 1), dives into my childhood, covering birth to age 14. Those foundational years were filled with some major hurdles and challenges that taught me what courage and justice looked like, and shaped everything I would go on to become.Written through the eyes and heart of a child, it's the raw truth of being a New Yorker living in a segregated Florida, with a dairy farm as home and Nature as my Polaris.
Because this story is so deeply personal, I stepped into the recording booth to narrate the audiobook myself, and I believe it's the most powerful of the three formats. Written and narrated in a blended Southern dialect, listening brings the story to life in a way the page alone can't quite capture.
I wrote That Yankee Girl for anyone who has had to navigate a complicated childhood. I hope it gives you something quite real to hold onto.
