A native of Beaufort, South Carolina, Nancy Thode currently divides her time between the Lowcountry and Connecticut. Her first book, *Ahead of Her Time* was published by Evening Post Books in 2025. It is a biography of her mother, Ann Head, who was a beloved Beaufort native and internationally known author of four books, most famously *Mr. and Mrs. Bo Jo Jones,* and numerous novelettes and short stories, some of which are reproduced in the biography.
In 2020, Nancy established the “Ann Head Literary Award for Short Story Fiction” at Beaufort High School where Ann Head once taught and mentored a young Pat Conroy. Ann died at an early age and forever after, Pat Conroy placed a rose on her grave every time he published a new book in gratitude for her belief in his talent.
Nancy, mother of two and grandmother to five, has produced her own one woman plays on stage to benefit Alzheimer’s and other community organizations. She loves the beach, is an avid swimmer, beach walker, and observer of marine weather.
Interviews with Nancy, and reviews of her book have been published in *The Post and Courier* and *Southern Literary Review*. She welcomes the opportunity to hear from readers as well as to speak to book clubs.
