Nilanjana S Roy is a Delhi-based novelist, editor and literary critic. She writes a regular column on books for the Financial Times, and has written for several publications, including the BBC, the New York Times, Crime Reads, The Guardian and others. Black River is Nilanjana's debut as a crime/ noir writer. It grew out of her years of reporting on gender in Delhi and surrounding states for the New York Times, and of exploring the capital and the Yamuna river on long walks. She is also the author of The Wildings duology, an award-winning fantasy series, and has edited several anthologies, including Our Freedoms.
