Pat Muir, is the author of Stories to Entertain You...If You Get Bored on Your Wedding Night, written in 1999 and The Numbers Man in 2010. He began the first book when he managed a motel. He sometimes worked the swing shift at a motel he managed, and found it better to read stories than watch the television in between handling incoming guests. He concluded he could write better than some authors he was reading, and so began to write stories for competitions, some of which were for female authors only. Hence his androgynous name. He made a mistake in using family members as source material in his story compilation. Following his divorce, he began to date women from online dating services. The second book, a comedic romantic novel, is based upon his experiences there and those from radiotelephone marketing, although all characters in the book are entirely fictitious. His scientific background enters the novel with his describing dating hierarchy, partner selection and statistics and that dating is a numbers business. The particular conceit of the story is that the protagonist cannot remember names, only the order in which he met each woman. Pat follows the old adage than if you don't at first succeed, then try try again. He therefore wrote his novel "What Happened to Flynn" to fit the niche market of mystery books. He considers it his best work and the reviews confirm this. Pat is from the United Kingdom, emigrated to the USA over fifty years ago, attended university here and pursued a career in science, engineering and real estate. Now retired, he travels extensively with his partner, Number 76.
