Patricia Bethune is an Emmy award winning actress, writer and producer. Recognized for her acclaimed roles as "Nurse Mary Pat" on ABC's General Hospital, "Dr. Edna Keener"on AMC's Emmy winning drama Mad Men and "Jane Bodehouse" on HBO's monster hit, True Blood. Her prolific career includes over 100 guest starring roles on television, film and she has received numerous awards for her work on stage.
After caregiving close friends and family she understands all too well the gift and cost of being a caregiver to those you love. Her Caregiver Advocacy passion includes bringing awareness to the needs of caregivers and how friends and family can support them. Patricia's first book was written with Barbara Sweeney, their handbook "What Can I Do," a guide for family and friends of caregivers was created to provide easy answers to those who want to know how they can help.
Her recent compact novel, "Take Me Home - Ashes, Clover and Cré" was written to honor her Irish roots and bring attention to the famine and the sacrifices so many made in their efforts to survive. Her interest in the diaspora feeds her new novel "Prairie Mermaid" tells the story of different paths taken by two Irish sisters who immigrated as children in the late 1800s. One a socialite and suffragette in Chicago and the other a farmers wife in the Dakota Territory. It is a haunting meditation on love, loss, and the cost of forging a life in an untamed land.
