John Gormally writes under the pen name of Patrick Greenwood. John enjoys writing military cyber-thrillers shaped by two careers: six years in the U.S. Marine Corps and nearly three decades in enterprise cybersecurity.

As a Marine communications specialist and cryptography custodian at Camp Pendleton, he learned how secrets are protected. Over the next 28 years in the technology industry, he watched how they get stolen. His business travel took him through Vietnam, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Portugal. Later, cycling trips abroad, including rides through Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, gave him the ground his stories stand on.

His Jack Kendall series begins in the final days of Saigon with Operation Babylift and moves into the modern shadow war between China and Taiwan, where undersea cables, state hackers, and intelligence agents decide who wins before a shot is fired.

Remembering Our Sunrise in Saigon: Author’s Edition (Book 1, originally published as Forever Our Sunrise in Saigon). Winner of the 2023 Firebird Book Award for Historical Fiction and Romance.

Shores of Okinawa (Book 2) won the 2nd place award at BookFest for Cyberthriller.

Red Scorpion Rising (Book 3). Third place at BookFest and a 5-star review from Literary Titan. The Jack Kendall series also earned a BookFest honorable mention. Twenty percent of net proceeds from Red Scorpion Rising support the Wounded Warrior Project.
