Paul Babcock was born on a farm in Poplar Grove, illinois. He was the youngest of 10 children. His parents were married for 68 years before they passed away within six moths of each other. On the farm, he developed a passion for all sports but baseball became his favorite. In 1993, as a senior captain, he helped lead his team to the NAIA National Championship. Coach Gordie Gillespie inspired Paul to become a teacher and coach. He wrote "The Team", to honor this legendary coach.
