I am an author, playwright, TV/film producer & writer, book editor and Scottish Fold cat owner (not an irrelevant fact to several of the above occupations). I also run a company called Random House Studio. My goal in life is to take more naps. My new book, IN MY MOTHER'S KITCHEN, is my 12th (amazingly enough) and will be published on April 4th, 2017. It's my 4th book of non-fiction -- all of those are personal and memoir-ish. And after spending a few years thinking about and writing this new book about my mom and our family and how food does -- and sometime doesn't -- hold friends and families together, I seem to be even more obsessed with food, drink and cooking than ever before. I'm now working with the director Robert Schwartzman on a film based on my three books about my relationship with Norton the amazing cat.Oh yeah, in addition to the three novels written under my own name, I've also written 5 thrillers under the pseudonym Russell Andrews -- but It is incredibly difficult to add those titles to this author page that's under my own name. Maybe someone will read this, take pity on me, and tell me how to do that.
I just finished reading 9 hours of the audio version of MY MOTHER'S KITCHEN. I found out something interesting: In addition to not liking writing about myself in brief bios like this, and in addition to not liking to have my photo taken, it turns out I don't like my voice either. And yet, somehow, it was fun and interesting. Go know.
