Rae Ellen Broadt has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. In hindsight, she sometimes wishes writing had been her college major in the first place—but life has a funny way of teaching us what we need to know before we understand where we're meant to go.
Her college education took five years rather than the usual four. While earning her degree, she worked two part-time jobs, relied on student loans, and attended summer semesters to keep moving forward. It wasn't always easy, but giving up was never part of the plan.
After college, an unexpected turn led Rae into the world of warehouse work. What began as simply trying to find a job turned into a career where she discovered a natural talent for organization, accuracy, and keeping track of the details others might overlook. She eventually became an Inventory Control Specialist—and, ironically, some of her best writing found its way onto the page during those years.
Life, however, had other plans. Crohn's disease, car accidents, and more complications than she cares to count brought challenges that could have easily ended the dream of becoming an author. Instead, they changed the pace, not the destination.
Rae learned that sometimes you can plan your path as carefully as possible and still find yourself having to roll with the punches. Life doesn't always follow the map. Sometimes you simply have to adjust, keep moving, and try again.
Through everything, one dream remained: writing.
Today, Rae writes the stories she always hoped she would someday have the courage and opportunity to tell. Her stories explore love, passion, the extraordinary, and the possibilities that exist beyond the ordinary world.
If life has taught her anything, it is this: **Plan as best you can, stay ready to change direction when necessary, and never—ever—give up on your dreams.*
