Rebecca C. Mandeville, LMFT, CCTP, is the pioneering Researcher and licensed Clinician who coined the globally recognized, peer-reviewed term 'Family Scapegoating Abuse' (FSA). Recognized as a leading expert in family systems and Complex Trauma, Rebecca’s original qualitative research at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology was the first to define FSA as a distinct form of systemic psycho-emotional abuse. She is currently a Principal Researcher behind groundbreaking 2026 international studies investigating the impact of FSA on the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and Cardiovascular Health. Her work has been published in esteemed medical and public health journals across Europe and Asia, further validating the physical and emotional experiences of adult survivors worldwide. Rebecca is the author of the seminal book, 'Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed', the first text to identify the link between the family scapegoat role and the development of Complex Trauma; Betrayal Trauma; and 'toxic' shame. As a Certified Complex Trauma Treatment Professional, she is currently developing the 'Scapegoat Exit' Online Masterclass—a targeted clinical protocol designed to help survivors repair the physiological and psychological damage of family-based abuse. Stay connected with the latest clinical findings and recovery strategies by visiting Scapegoat Recovery (dot com). You can also join her growing global community on her popular Substack, 'Scapegoat Exit', where she continues to advocate for the health, dignity, and 'Systemic Immunity' of FSA survivors everywhere.
