Born in a Catholic orphanage in 1949 and adopted 5 weeks later, Fr. Patrick Dolan spent 15 years in the seminary. This included graduate degrees in Chemistry and Theology, and times to explore the outdoors (hiking & biking) and inner world (caving) all over the globe. Years as a chaplain in the US Army National Guard, including nearly 8 years on active duty in Europe, Asia, Latin America and even short deployments to Africa, let him understand the image of God in all cultures and terrain and climates--including the military culture and scientific culture. Real life rangers, paladins and magic users (scientists) are his friends--as well as many clergy. Though he has published in chemical journals and military or historical ones as well, his publishing of music and poetry (in addition to this fantasy story in 4 volumes) demonstrates that if a Chemist can publish poetry, anyone can do anything.
