Robert G. Hewitt - who majored in fine art in college - has spent much of his professional career as a graphic designer and public relations executive. He now focuses on painting in various media - watercolor, acrylic, oil, and multimedia - and is represented by various galleries. NO INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED, Hewitt's first book-length writing, was prompted by his learning that his old high school had been demolished. "When I heard the news, part of me almost rejoiced," he admits. "But then I began to remember what it was like to grow up in that time and place and I understood, maybe fully for the first time, what a great childhood it was. And I was literally compelled to commemorate the special time that I and my friends had." Hewitt's second book, WINNIE AND GURLEY: The Best-Kept Family Secret - grew from questions asked about his family by some readers.
