Robert Gill, Jr. is the creator of the Carroway Island universe, home to The Carroway Chronicles, the Carroway Island Library, and a growing collection of novels, maritime tales, local histories, field guides, cookbooks, and island lore inspired by the Chesapeake Bay. Through stories such as *The Curious Trial of Josiah Wren* and *The Phantom Skipjack*, Robert invites readers into a fictional Chesapeake community where history, folklore, humor, and everyday life intertwine. Carroway Island is a place where tides shape daily routines, neighbors know one another's stories, and the boundary between history and legend is often delightfully blurred. Drawing upon a lifelong fascination with maritime history, small-town traditions, and the disappearing culture of Chesapeake watermen, Robert creates richly detailed stories that celebrate coastal communities and the people who call them home. Before turning his attention to fiction, Robert spent decades as a publisher, magazine editor, entrepreneur, and author of numerous nonfiction books and articles. His work and expertise have been featured in Reader's Digest, Newsweek, Fox News Digital, the New York Post, Parade, and other national and international publications. A lifelong boater and student of coastal history, Robert has spent countless hours exploring the waterways, harbors, marshes, and working waterfronts that inspire Carroway Island. His fiction reflects an appreciation for the traditions, challenges, and character of America's coastal towns. Robert and his wife have hosted international high school students for many years, an experience that continues to remind him how differently people see the world—and how much people everywhere share in common. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and continues to explore Chesapeake Bay communities, collect stories, and imagine new adventures from the docks, marshes, and back roads of Carroway Island. Through The Carroway Chronicles and the Carroway Island Library, Robert invites readers to visit a place where ordinary lives contain extraordinary stories, every resident has a tale worth telling, and the tide still sets the rhythm of daily life.
