Simon J[ames] Reynolds spent his working career as a journalist of the sub-editor subspecies, devoting his maculate mind to the production of clean newspapers and groan-inducing headlines. He started writing verse as a schoolboy, but a friendly warning that the journalistic idiom might overwhelm his muse proved all too accurate, and for years his output was intermittent, if that. A genteel taste for amateur dramatics, specifically medieval mystery plays, kept him off the streets for some years and he likes to dabble in play-writing. Simon likes language, Africa (he was born in Zimbabwe), going to the theatre, watching bicycle races, saving planets and talking about himself in the third person.
