I am a 42-year-old mother of three. I have a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Instruction. I am a science teacher, and I write curriculum for the school system. I edit and approve journals for publication for an educational journal. I self-published a children’s book, and I have published articles on the topics of school reform. I have a podcast that explores
related topics in my book such as abortion, rape, marriage, divorce, self-love, depression, and abuse.
I Choose Me is a journey about a little girl who did not see her value. A girl who grew into a woman and searched for love and protection. A girl who was raised in poverty, and watched her father abuse her mother. This is a story of a woman who admired expensive things and got what she wished for. However, her deepest desire came with a price. Her need to find love and protection caused her to relive the same pain and anguish she saw as a child. This Canterbury tale goes through a series of hate, depression, love, and forgiveness. The protagonist in the story realizes that she was also the antagonist. My biggest adversary was me. My fear of not being loved, accepted, and not chosen prevented me from loving myself.
In my memoir: I Choose Me, I explore the various myths women have been told since childhood about sex, marriage, abortion, love, and children. I Choose Me is about living life for you! Choosing to love yourself unconditionally. In this memoir I discuss rape during marriage. I discuss depression, and how it affects children. I revisited choosing to keep my son after considering an abortion. Finally, my decision to leave an abusive relationship after the birth of my daughter.
