Thais Nye Derich is a San Francisco-based author of the acclaimed women's rights in childbirth memoir titled, "Second Chance: A Mother's Quest for a Natural Birth After a Cesarean." "Second Chance" is a finalist for the 2018 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award, a 2018 "Best Book" Awards finalist, and a Reader's Favorite 5-Star Review Recipient. Derich's work has been published nationally and internationally, in print and online at Salon, SFGate, BabyCenter, and Birth Issues Magazine, among others. She's been interviewed on NPR and KPFA radio stations and is a public speaker. Derich's essay, "Ghost," is forthcoming (Feb. 7, 2019) in the anthology, "She's Got This."
