Theresa Abell Haynes is a journalist and historical novelist who brings to life overlooked true stories of faith, courage, and conscience.
Her debut novel, The Queen's Priest, grew out of a story passed down in her own family: a longstanding connection to Blessed Thomas Abell, an Oxford scholar and confessor to Queen Katherine of Aragon who defied King Henry VIII's demands for an annulment and paid for it with imprisonment in the Tower of London, where he carved his name and family emblem into his cell wall. Theresa's search for the man behind the family story led her into the Tudor archives — and into fiction, as she set out to reimagine his extraordinary life.
She holds a master's degree in the Religious Roots of Europe from Lund University in Sweden and a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her writing has appeared in WORLD Magazine and on The World and Everything in It.
She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, their cat, and a flock of chickens.
