I'm an Associate Professor of British-American History at the University of Central Arkansas. My award-winning scholarship reflects my broad interests, ranging from colonial American tavern going (Inn Civility, NYU Press, 2019), to the complex history of humanity’s obsession with mermaids and mermen (Merpeople: A Human History, Reaktion, 2020), to the British military’s suffering in Revolutionary America’s strange environs (Under Alien Skies, UNC Press, 2024).
