In the summer of 1983, W. D. Nelson and two buddies set off on a trek across Europe with no agenda other than a return ticket from Amsterdam fifty-six days later. He brought a backpack, a guitar, and an empty journal. Two months later, he returned home a changed person, with long hair, a smashed guitar, and a journal filled with stories. That trip sparked a lifelong love of travel and writing that has since carried him to more than forty countries. A lifelong writer with an English degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Nelson splits his time between Houston and the Texas Hill Country.
