WALT SHIEL started school on Guam during the Korean War, graduated from high school in France during the Vietnam War, and had four distinct careers: Air Force pilot, telecommunications engineer, defense industry engineer, and full-time writer. As an engineer, he worked on the B-2, F-22, F-35, and F-16 aircraft programs. Walt began writing professionally in 1992 and wrote military aviation history books, historical novels, eclectic short stories, dozens of published magazine articles, and two monthly aviation columns. Diagnosed in September 2013 with prostate cancer, Walt achieved total remission and became a Champion for ZERO-The End of Prostate Cancer and a Mentor Angel with Imerman Angels to help other men with this disease. He passed away in 2016.
