The joy of the age of Covid-19. I have always wanted to write a book, who doesn’t? When I was laid off from my job due to the Covid Crunch, I sat down before a computer and started writing a little dirty note to my spouse. That note got longer and more complex, suddenly I realized it was a short story. That short story ended up being over two-hundred pages long.
So now I had my characters, and they took a life within my mind; that part that had always been suppressed to allow computer code to flow had broken free and refused to sit by any longer. And so, before I knew it, before my spouse was ready for it, there was a second book, then a third, fourth, fifth, and well you get the idea.
I will admit that while I have always loved to read, after learning in seventh grade, I had never really tried writing. Seventh grade? I was/am severally dyslexic. True story, I took my first computer class because I miss-read the course outline, I thought I was taking word-processing. It turned out to be a lucky mistake for me, as I have made my living as a computer programmer.
Now a word about my loving and wonderful other half. Teacher! I’ll expand, special education teacher. In other words, perhaps the only career that could have trained a person to be able to take my, undoubtedly frighteningly, misspelled collection of pages and turn them into a book or nine. And so, this has been a collaboration. Thus, I have places both of our first initials as the pen name.
I hope you enjoy our books.
Sincerely,
Y. B. Shoemaker
