About this listen

Four brave combatants fight for survival in a world where blood sport is taken to the ultimate extreme in this action-packed fantasy series debut.

Once every year, in the city of Sunja, gladiators meet in the arena known as Sunja’s Pit. Some are lured there by the prospect of fortune or fame; others come simply for the thrill of the fight. The games continue for days, until a champion is crowned—or all involved perish.

When it becomes clear that to be a Free Trained pit fighter is to live with a mark on one’s head, four warriors struggle to change their lot, both in and out of the arena. But that’s easier said than done, and not everyone is pleased to learn of their plans. All the while, unseen forces watch the quartet, waiting for the best time to strike—and take everything they have.

Perfect for fans of Gladiator and A Game of Thrones!

Not all titles by an author are going to be hot sh!t ...

Keith C. Blackmore has "Hell Divers" and "Mountain man" under his belt so you would think that this guy can knock them out, right?
Do not gamble large volumes of your children's university funds on that!
This is the second time I have tried to get through this title ... and as Amazon is kind enough to offer it for free here on Audible I figured I would give it a second shot. I fell asleep so many times I had to give up on it.

Having said that ... not everything that Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd put out post Led-Zep III or Dark side of the moon was going to top the charts either ...
Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin springs to mind ... and 1983's The Final Cut by Pink Floyd is another good example of this.

Narrated by: John Lee: John does a good job (we can not all expect R C Bray) but he tries his best to carry a title that is just not up to muster ... writing is not his job as he is there to narrate and nothing more. I can listen to John Lee and not have any issues but not when he is trying to save a lame duck!
The narration is great, but the rest is MEH ...
