Border Line until it Comes Together Towards the End
This is not the usual David Baldacci book. It took a long while to get in sync with the plot. It seemed like there was 2 books in one. A murder (after all, she is a FBI agent) & the Case of finding her sister.
However, it does all come together towards the end, setting up the ground work for the next book. I’m starting to like it. Normally, with David Baldacci books, I’m in after the first paragraph.

A Baldacci novel is always $ well spent
Mr Baldacci sure knows how to spin captivating storylines and keep the reader guessing. I like the strength of Atlee’s character, she’s a great role model. I had guessed the ending and the perpetrator was one of two I had narrowed down but that didn’t detract from enjoying the story. I look forward to the next instalment in this series and maybe you’ll have another Puller book for us sometime soon? The narration was flawless here too.

Strangely Disappointing
I think that I brought too much excited anticipation to this novel, following on from my intense enjoyment of the 1st story.
Unfortunately, without giving away a whole series of spoilers, I cannot say why I was seriously underwhelmed by this story. Suffice to say that, the dialogue, the plot and the conclusions were not (in my opinion), up to the usual Baldacci standards.
I won’t speedily run towards book 3. I feel as if I’ve already exhausted this series...

Reviews shouldn’t put you off.
I’m glad I started listening to this before I looked at the reviews. Some of them would have been enough to put me off. While I agree this isn’t one of Baldacci s best storylines and not as complex as some. I still enjoyed it and listened to the end. Hopefully the next book in the series will be what we expect from this master of suspense

Quite good.
I did enjoy it in the main. However, I found keeping up with the characters names difficult throughout. When there are many characters in a book, even when reading rather than listening, I find it takes a few chapters to remember names and match to the traits of that character so you know who it is even when they’re not mentioned by name. I have to admit, some of it I saw coming and some of it, I don’t know what was going on!

Frustrating
Being a fan of David Baldacci’s books, this is my first review, and not wanting to be a spoiler alert I have to say I found this one really frustrating. I had already worked out the ending long before we got there. Although I hoped I was wrong and although the book is written in David’s usual style at the end I found it really frustrating!!! But a good book none the less but talk about tangents David this was a long one...

Not good.
I have listen to almost all of David Baldacci books but unfortunately this wasn't written to his usual high standards. Atlee Pine is written like she has cross to bear with everyone and god help you if you views don't match hers. Also there were a few times that Atlee Pine was the most stupid FBI agent ever, missing the most obvious clues. Very disappointing, good enough for a listen but ended up annoyed by the end of the book. Miss Atlee Pine is not the most lovable character in Baldacci's collection.

Couldn’t care less about Atlee Pine
Have read so many of David Baldacci’s books. and have loved them all …..until now. His characterisations of men and women are usually well crafted and believable. His storylines and scenarios are not formulaic….lots of variety. I have long been singing his praises , so the Atlee Pine experience has been a disappointing one. Read book 1 , thought she would come to life for me in the second book , but won’t be reading any more.
She is one dimensional just full of her own self importance and rude in all her interactions. Despite her tough background story I could feel no empathy with her character, in fact I couldn’t care less what happened to her. The machine gun narration of her just served to reinforce her ‘nothingness. A glimmer of warmth and humility appearing occasionally would have been welcome. I don’t expect to love all lead characters but I need more than indifference to them if I’m going to stick with them through a series

The Narration makes this book.
I found this book because of the Narrator Brittany Pressley. Brittany, adds such wonderful expression, and voices to the story, it would not be the same without her. And, in this particular book is well accompanied with Kyf Brewer, and I hope to find more, with these two in this same genre. Thank you Brittany, for your lovely narration and for introducing me too other authors.

Multiple story lines that go nowhere
The book is around finding her missing or dead sister. However at the end of the book, they are no closer to that. The plot was quite obvious and there were no surprises.
It wasn't suspenseful, and if this wasn't an audio book, I'm not sure I would have finished it.
