Story
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

Story
Photographer Jo Ellen Hathaway thought she'd escaped the house called Sanctuary long ago. She'd spent her loneliest years there, after the sudden, unexplained disappearance of her mother. Yet the sprawling inn on an island off the Georgia coast continues to haunt her dreams. And now, even more haunting are the pictures someone is sending her: strange close-ups and candids, culminating in the most shocking portrait of all - a photo of her mother - naked, beautiful, and dead.

Story
Photographer Jo Ellen Hathaway thought she'd escaped the house called Sanctuary long ago. She'd spent her loneliest years there, after the sudden, unexplained disappearance of her mother. And now, even more haunting are the pictures someone is sending her: strange close-ups and candids, culminating in the most shocking portrait of all - a photo of her mother - naked, beautiful, and dead.
Publisher's Summary
Now she's hiked this mountain all by herself. It was glorious, she thinks, as she peers through her binoculars at the Snake River churning below. And then she sees the man and woman on the opposite bank. Arguing. Fighting. Suddenly, he's on top of her, his hands around her throat....
Enjoying a moment of solitude a bit farther down the trail is a gruff loner named Brody. But by the time Reece reaches him and brings him to the scene, the pair is gone. And when authorities comb the area where she saw the attack, they find nothing - no signs of struggle. No freshly turned earth. Not even a tire track.
No one in Angel's Fist seems to believe Reece. After all, she's a newcomer in town with a reputation for being jumpy and jittery - maybe even a little fragile. Maybe it's time to run again, to move on. But Reece knows there's a killer in Angel's Fist, even if Brody, despite his seeming impatience and desire to keep her at arm's length, is the only one willing to believe her.
When a series of menacing events makes it clear that someone wants her out of the way, Reece must put her trust in Brody - and herself - to find out if there is a killer in Angel's Fist before it's too late.

Great Nora Roberts book
Would you listen to Angels Fall again? Why?
Yes, I will listen to this book again. There was more character development in this book than in the majority of romances.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of, Reece
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The "voices" used the narrator were often difficult to distinguish--- one gravelly voice for all men, some women.

Not Nora's Best
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this story because it will appeal to fans of romantic suspense
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Reece's past and the reasons she is on the run were the most interesting aspect of the story. The least interesting was the loose ends with the identity of the killer and what happened to him.
What three words best describe Joyce Bean’s voice?
Riveting, engaging and clear
Was Angels Fall worth the listening time?
Yes
Any additional comments?
This wasn’t the best by Nora Roberts in terms of her standard romantic suspense titles, but I did enjoy the story. I thought Reece was a likeable character and once I learned why she was so jittery and tense, I felt a lot of empathy for her. She came across as a very believable character, having experienced what she went through in her previous life and I thought she was very brave for taking charge of her life and trying new experiences, despite her anxiety. I liked Brody immediately and didn’t let his gruff exterior fool me. Reece’s boss, Joanie and coworker, Linda Gail were wonderful supporting characters. The story flowed well, but was a little predictable, especially when the killer started stalking Reece, trying to make her think she was going crazy. I guessed early on who the killer was, but enjoyed finding out why he did it at the end.
Overall, this was a good story and fans of Nora Roberts and romantic suspense stories will enjoy it, but may not be blown away by it.

Murder and Malice in the Grand Tetons
Good narration by Joyce Bean. No complaints. Her performance was excellent. This book was also made into a LIFETIME movie starring Heather Locklear, but I never saw it.
As for the story, it's a good thriller, but a fairly weak mystery. I guessed who murdered the woman immediately, but was never sure till nearly the end.
The thriller aspects were stronger. I really felt for the heroine as the killer tried to drive her into la-la-loco land. He was so malicious. Shudder.
As for romance, this one is laid back, matter-of-fact, and seemingly emotionless, compared to some love stories. Nonetheless, I quite liked Brody's gradual transformation from grouchy, hard-edged journalist and mystery writer to protective, devoted -- but still slightly sarcastic -- lover.
I liked seeing the heroine come into her own, and fight her way back to serenity.
Good pacing. Good dialogue. Good secondary characters, especially Joanie. Good entertainment.
I wish Roberts would leave out the religious profanity. Bugs me.

Easy listening!
I look forward to Nora Robert's strong female characters and the men they fall in love with. A little predictable, but good easy listening. Angel's Fall is another good recipe with a good story line and that good bit of a twist and excitement to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Another Nora Robert's winner with a good narrator in Joyce Bean bringing the characters to life.

One of my all time favorite audio books!
I go back to this one time and time again. A strong heroine that thinks she's broken. A hero that believes in her. It's the dialogue that makes them real.

3.5 stars. Enjoyable.
I read the physical book several years ago and thought it was good - 4 ½ stars. But I changed my mind when I recently listened to the audiobook. The middle dragged too much. Maybe because I knew the ending and who the bad guy was, but I was tired of Reese being oblivious to all the things being done to her by the bad guy - trying to make her lose her mind. Although she did some interesting things, too much time was spent with her being a helpless victim.
The story is about a talented woman chef who was the only survivor of a gunshot massacre. She moves away, is in the process of healing, and witnesses another murder. It’s a good murder mystery. The story also has an interesting romance developing between the chef and a writer who helps her. I enjoyed reading about these two characters. I also enjoyed a supporting character, Joanie, owner of the diner. There were some good lines. I'm extracting parts of them here briefly, but they are better within the context of the story. Page 211, after he said her eyes looked tired, she thought "He would always be brutally honest with her. Tough as it might be on the ego, it was better than platitudes and soft lies." Page 266 "a man puts his hands around a woman's throat once, he could do it again." Page 279 "what selfishness you have seems awfully healthy from where I stand."
AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Joyce Bean was fine, although her voice for men was a little weird.
Narrative mode: 3rd person.
Genre: romantic mystery.

Excellent narration, story gets a little lost
I enjoyed listening to Joyce Bean narrate so much so that I looked up other titles she has performed. Angels Fall is a good story, but it gets a little lost in the lengthy descriptions of all the main character's issues (paranoia, OCD etc.). The ending is not unexpected, but it is confusing. I'm still not quite sure how it all panned out. Usually Nora Roberts is much more on point with descriptive storylines, but I feel this story fell a little short.

Angels Fail
Awful.
Whiny wounded heroine witnesses event. Then several (audiobook) hours of stalkerish/gaslighting pranks alternating with "OMG! Am I crazy! I'm not crazy! I swear!" Then big confrontation with baddie who was obvious about halfway through the book, and *wham* book is over. No reactions/responses from anyone other than the hero and heroine.
Seriously. Bad.

Enjoyable cheese fest from Nora Roberts
I like Nora Roberts because she writes predictable cheesy stories that send me to sleep. Some I've really enjoyed, some I've given up on halfway through. This is one of her best novels; the characters were more real and I like the descriptions of the small town and it's people. Reece was likeable, less 'damsel in distress' than normal, and I appreciated that the male character Brody, wasn't the usual two-dimensional alpha male charmer that Roberts normally describes. The story was well paced and the ending exciting enough that I stayed up in order to listen to it.

To long and cringe
Well after reading a few books by this author that I really enjoyed I thought I’d give this one a go, I will save you all time and tell you just listen to the first 2 hours and last hour of the book, the rest is just to lovey dovey not to mention detailed sex scenes we really didn’t need to hear over and over boring as hell, little bit of action at the end, the characters are irritating as are the accents, overall very predictable storyline.

As usual, Nora Roberts surprised me once more. An interesting setting, nice plot, great details.
The narration is really good.
After finnishing the book, tried to watch the movie... And here too, as usual, the book is much, much better! The movie is just bad!

Good relaxing read.
This was a good read for Nora Roberts fans. I enjoyed the story ... and without giving anything away - no, i could not guess who "did it".
I started off thinking the reader was terrible but quickly into the story i discovered that her voices were clear and i grew to enjoy her style.
