From Frank D. Gilroy - a prolific and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright (The Subject was Roses), screenwriter (Desperate Characters), novelist (From Noon Till Three) and most recently, author of three best-selling Kindle Singles ("Lake," "Private," and "Crooning") - comes this stunning portrait of Phyllis, mid-life crisis, who abandons herself to an unpredictable future (moving, sensual, painful, comic) that contradicts everything she previously thought about herself. With Vonnegut-like verve and consummate grace, Gilroy delivers a piercing new work of deep compassion and insight.

Editorial Reviews

The first thing listeners will notice is narrator Elisa Carlson's bright, compassionate voice. Her performance of this book is clear, precise, and yet quite emotional.

The novel's main character is Phyllis, portrayed as a women suffering from "empty nest syndrome". Almost ruthless in his contemplation, or study, of this woman, Pulitzer-winning author Frank Gilroy has made a real masterpiece in Anything for You. Entertaining, yes - but this is a study of the human condition. Abandonment, longing, and loneliness are themes rippling under the surface of the audiobook's staid, matter-of-fact writing style.
